Fine Muttsu Mokko gata (six-lobed shape) iron plate tsuba with sekigane in the
nakago ana
and a look of a great strength.
The iron plate is decorated on both sides in hirazogan of leaves
and tendrils
and pierced with cloud shapes in negative silhouette. This beautiful workmanship and
design
is typical of Kyoto and clearly Heianjo Zogan. This is a transition piece between the Onin
and the Heianjo schools. Only a few bits of brass inlay and a single
leaf on opposite sdes survive.
Late Muromachi period.
